Lee S. Friedman studies ornithology and photographs birds as an avocation. Occasionally one of his photographs comes out well, like the one below of the Wood Ducks that the National Audubon Society posted on its Facebook page (203,000 hits on its first day). He lives in Berkeley, California, where he is also a Professor of the Graduate School at the University of California’s Goldman School of Public Policy. He is the author of a study that investigated the consequences for avian biodiversity of a decision by a public agency to promote native vegetation on its lands (see EBMUD Management for Biodiversity: The Horse-logging Areas). He is curious, studious, and enthusiastic about the lives of birds, and more generally about human appreciation of the ecosystem that supports all forms of lives. He hopes that the photographs and observations on this website will convey that enthusiasm to others.
