Wrentit
Chamaea fasciata
This Wrentit was observed in the Abbott's Lagoon section of Point Reyes National Seashore, CA on June 15, 2014. The Wrentit can be hard to distinguish from a female Bushtit in a photograph. Bushtits are smaller and in the field they are commonly found in flocks whereas Wrentits are almost always solitary (as this one was) or with its mate nearby. Wrentits usually mate for life, and the male shares incubation duties.
