Ash-Throated Flycatcher
myiarchus cinerascens
The Ash-Throated Flycatcher comes to the western United States, including my East Bay SF area, in late spring and summer to breed. They generally are gone by mid-September and winter primarily on the Pacific side of Mexico, Guatamala and Honduras. Both of the above photographs are of the same bird taken in Orinda, CA from the Oursan Trail reached from the Bear Creek Staging Area of EBMUD (permit required) on July 19, 2016. The one on the left shows the ashy coloration on the throat and upper breast. The breast is a pale yellow. The right photograph shows some rufous colaration on the tail; this also extends up its sides. (Click on images to see enlarged versions.)
